Hello! I hope someone can help me out.
I have been doing some research for a professor of mine. To help him
navigate the 200+ sources that I have collected and filed for him on
my external drive, I created a spreadsheet that is basically a
bibliography with some extra bells and whistles designed to be sorted
in a number of ways, prioritized, etc.
I hoped that he would be able to use it as a roadmap to his research,
and so I linked all of the article titles to the corresponding PDF's
with hyperlinks to allow files to be accessed without navigating the
the folders and searching for a cryptic filename. It works
brilliantly on my computer, and I am very excited to present it to
him, but it dawned on me that the file paths will not be the same on
his computer. Is there a way to quickly change part of the paths for
the hyperlinks all at once? The path after reaching the master folder
"Research" will be the same, it will just be getting to that point
that will change, and that change will be the same for all 200+ file
paths. A simple "replace all" would solve the problem in 2 seconds,
but I dont know if that is possible with hyperlinks, at least not on
the surface level of excel.
I know that there are programs built for the PC to aid in this kind of
"file migration" but I have not come across any for the mac. So here
is my question: Can the problem be solved by some clever manipulation
of Excel? And, if not, is there a program that I can use to make this
"migration".
Thank you!
Chris
