Migration of Project Server 2003

Hi all,

We are in the process of migrating our Project Server 2003 installation from
one server to another. So far, all of the documentation I have read does not
clearly state how to do this. Can someone explain the steps to me? I do
have WSS installed pointing to the old content database and Project Server
2003 installed pointing to the restored database from the old server.

The trouble I am having is that Project Server 2003 is still pointing all of
the project sites to the older server. For example:

SharePoint Central Administration URL: http://oldserver:portno

Create a site under SharePoint URL: http://olderserver/sites

and I need it to be:

SharePoint Central Administration URL: http://newserver:portno

Create a site under SharePoint URL: http://newerserver/sites

When I try and save these settings I get a "no site templates exist..."
error message.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Gary,

What are the proper step to migrating a Project Server 2003 install?

I want to make sure that I am doing it correctly.

Gary,

I restored the old databases on the new server. I ran WSSWiz. I ran the
Project Server 2003 installation. I can now see the projects from the old
server, however, when I navigate to the documents - it points back to the old
server address.

How do I get the new installation to point to the new server sites without
deleting and recreating the projects?

Thanks,

John

If the machine name changed, then you need to change all these in the
database. You can change the base URLs for the SharePoint Sites through
Admin > Manage Windows SharePoint Services. You'll also need to drilldown
and change the individual site records.
