Migration verification Script not working

R

René

Hi,
I want to use the pre-migration verification script provided in the
"Migration best practices for Project Server 2007" document.
Specifically the one providing the sub-projects and projects listing
(Migration Best practice Chapter, page 99).
The PROJ_UID field is not existing in MSP_PROJECTS db, and the script
doesn't work.

Can someone can help?
Thanks

Hi René,
Two things. First is that if you found the script on p. 99, you may not have
the most recent documentation. There is an April update, which has that
section on p. 108.
Second, there is definitely a problem with the documentation. If you read
carefully, you are to run the script against the DRAFT database--one of the
2007 dbs. How you are supposed to obtain useful information from the Draft db
PRE-migration is a mystery. The script runs correctly against the Draft db,
but as you noted, it will not run against a PS2003 db.
You may have to create a backup of your clean 2007 dbs, do an initial
migration, run the script against the Draft db, note your sub-projects,
restore the clean dbs, then do the migration again.
Not very elegant, but until they update the documentation or someone
supplies an equivalent script for 2003, it's a start.
FYI, another booboo in the documentation is that to initially migrate only
the global data you need to comment out "Migrate All=". If you leave it
blank, it's equivalent to "Migrate All=Save".

Thanks for this good info.
and yes I noticed that all my project was migrated even if I had the
Migrate= blank.
I was wondering why, now I know.
