Milo: scrolling to the right in mail folders

In O2000, I used to be able to scroll to the right in mail folders,
allowing me to read longer folder names, especially many layers
deep.

is this option lost in O2003? Or can I turn it on somehow?

You can resize the Navigation Pane if that is any help. Just click, hold and
drag.

My Outlook 2003 Navigation Pane certainly scrolls horizontally.

No, it doesn't. If it does for you, you must have something set that I don't.

I've posted a screen print of my outlook at:
http://www.improventures.com/personal/temp.htm
to show you how it appears for me.

As Bill says, I can drag the window wider to see the folder names, but then
my main screen of notes gets very small. I miss being able to scroll
horizontally.

That's JUST the look I want. And it used to be my default.
I can cntl-6 to get it to show up, but that collapses everything.

How can I make that view my default?
There almost HAS to be a way because it used to be that way for me
in Outlook 2000.

Select the Folder List view and close Outlook. When you reopen it, it
should be remembered.

Darn! I really thought you'd solved it that time Brian, but we're not quite
there.
Yes, if I cntl-6 and close Outlook, it DOES save the setting (got excited
when I saw the scroll bar still there).

But then I went to "Contacts" and back to "Mail" and it was back to the old
view. I'm in and out of Mail, Contacts, and Calendar all day long. It's
actually pretty meaningless for it to save my settings upon closing if that
setting won't last through the first few minutes that I use outlook because I
need to check my calendar or look up a phone number.

How can I say "I want folder view any time I'm in `Mail` unless I tell you
otherwise?"

Right. You MUST use the Folder List view (not the Mail view) to see the
horizontal scroll bar. Click Contacts and then click Folder List again.
Keep your mouse off that Mail view button.

Your answer confused me until I finally noticed that there was ANOTHER button
off the bottom of my screen called Folder List that I could move up to the
top and more "Mail" down off the screen.

I wish I could rename "Folder List" to something like "mail", but at least
now I'll be able to switch between FolderList, Contacts, and Calendar without
losing that view.

Thanks Brian! You're what we call in Yiddish a "Schtarker" -- someone
bright who doesn't give up til he's successful!
