MIME mess and 2008 vs. Mail.app

I'm still running Entourage v.X. as it is deeply embedded in my business and although I own brand new copies of Office 2004 and Office 2008, I have not installed them.

From the searches I've done this last year (Macintouch, Google, etc.), it does not appear that Entourage 2008 is much changed from my ancient version. I have heard the search function is much improved.

My website users send me emails via contact forms which are sent out in Plain Text. Whenever I try to forward, either by my default HTML format or even Plain Text, I still get MIME errors when sending to other Entourage or Thunderbird users (I don't have a problem with Apple Mail or Outlook users). Switching to UUENCODE or Apple Double does not seem to change the results. (I suppose this could be due to a corrupt preference file, but I haven't tried deleting it yet.)

Questions:

Is the whole MIME thing any better in 2008? I heard there was not much in the way of improvements in 2004 over v.X.

Should I switch to Apple Double encoding or something else regardless of the Entourage version I'm using?

I am buying a new 15" Macbook Pro soon and I have to make a decision as to whether to install Entourage 2008 or use Apple Mail. Apple Mail is missing a few features that are available in Entourage, like the ability to edit received email (especially the Subject) and the ability to right-click and change the received email color. But, there are no MIME issues with Apple Mail.

I appreciate your feedback.

Thanks,
Dave
