Minimise/Maximise/Close

Hi, I have a problem in that the Minimise/Maximise/Close buttons are not displaying on any of the screens that should have them. The functionality is still there as I can "guess" where the buttons should be and then select one using the mouse and the application behaves normally, however the buttons don't reappear. Can anyone suggest anything?
