Minimize/restore in Outlook

M

MaggieS

Until recently, when I clicked the icon next to the Minimize icon at the top
right of the Outlook window (the one representing two offset windows), it
made the window able to be re-sized by dragging the lower right corner.

Now when I click that icon (whose rollover tip now says "Restore Down,"
although I think it used to say "Restore"), the window minimizes to the
taskbar, just as though I had clicked the Minimize icon.

How can I get it to work the way it used to? The way things are now, my
choices are Maximized and Minimized and nothing in between.

Thanks very much for your help!

Did you install a utility that changes the behavior?

Version of Outlook? if 2003, are you using the option to minimize to tray?
Right Click on the tray icon and check the setting.

Hi, Diane -

To my knowledge, I haven't installed a utility that changes the behavior.
(At least, I didn't do so intentionally!) :)

The version is Outlook 2003 SP2.

In the system tray, "Hide When Minimized" is not checked.

Thanks,

Maggie

Try changing the screen resolution to the highest you can go - it sounds
like maybe the outlook window is off screen when you restore it.

Thanks, Diane. I tried changing it to 1920x1200 (the highest screen
resolution I can set), but no difference.

All the rest of my applications and windows restore normally, just not
Outlook...

If you right click the application in the system tray and select "restore"
does it work?

Hi, Milly -

"Restore" wasn't an option in the system tray, but this time when I
right-clicked the application on the taskbar and selected "restore," it
worked!

Thanks SO much for your help!
