minimum updates needed for word & excel for very limited disk spac

what are the minimum updates for word & excel, non complete service pack
related, that can be used to bring security and problem levels up to par. We
have a WYSE device that has very limited flash memory and would like to
install word & excel locally as well as the needed updates. We can trim
features from word and excel during the initial install, but the subsequent
install of SP2 or 3 puts the space over the limit. Is there a way to only
install updates for word and excel and if so, how can I find what updates I
should be installing. Thanks in advance for your help!
