When I sync my BCM contacts to my SmartPhone (MotoQ), I have *1* 'unresolved
item', that keeps Activesync in a loop trying to resolve it. It never stops.
I've looked closely at the data, and can't find any records that seem
"unusual".
Can anybody offer suggestions? This shouldn't be that difficult!
Oh - Outlook 2007, ActiveSync 4.5.0, Windows XP, WinMobile 5.0 (on the 'Q')
Thanks!
I try to sync my Outlook contacts with my Blackberry and it runs part way
and stops giving me an error message that is unable to update my contacts
information. The reason is because you have one or more Outlook contacts that
have no first name, last name and company name. If you go into your Outlook
contacts like I did and look at everyone they may look fine, they are not and
I will show you how to find them. There has to be at least one of those three
fields filled in.
This works for Outlook 2002 and 2003:
In Outlook go to the following path:
- TOOLS
- FIND
- ADVANCED FIND
o In THE Advanced Find screen click on Look in: (click on Contacts) in
Contacts
o Click on the Advanced Tab
o Click on the Field Tab
o Clock on Frequently-Used Fields
o Click on First Name
o Click on Condition and pick “is emptyâ€
o Click on Add to List
o Click on Field again
o Click on Last Name
o Click on Condition and pick “is emptyâ€
o Click on Add to List
o Click on Field again
o Click on Company
o Click on Condition and pick “is emptyâ€
o Click on Add to List
o Click on Find Now Tab
You should see some entries in the box. Some entries may have names showing
and some may just be blank. Double click on the first entry and then click on
Full Name. It may show the name in the Title Box. You can just change to add
the First and Last Name and click on SAVE. The double click on the next
contact and fix that one. If the entry is completely blank you can just
delete the contact.
Once you have fixed all contacts, run the Blackberry Sync program and it
should run with no errors.
The reason this happens is that Blackberry requires at least one of these
fields (first name, last name and company) have data in them. Outlook does
not require this. So when the Blackberry program tries to sync, these blank
entries come up and Blackberry does not know what to do with them so it
stops. There is a new version of the Blackberry Desktop Manger that can be
downloaded that addresses this issue. It still will not add the blank
contacts but it will add the others instead of stopping and giving an error
message. You still need to go into Outlook and correct the blank contacts.
