minor formatting problems

D

Donald McNeilly

Since you folks have been such help to me, I am going to take advantage of
your generosity.

Two formatting items I've not seen mentioned:
1. When I import from Word, sometimes italics will spread to adjacent
text. I then have to go through the entire publication manually editing. We
have lots of italics for titles of shows and books.
2. My new paragraph indent does not work if there is a graphic intruding
on the text box. I have to manually move the indent tab to the appropriate
spot. I use a preset font style that includes the indent and it works
everywhere else.

Thanks in advance.

The Word Import filter is very limited, and you need to expect that
formatting losses will need to be touched up. I don't know which version you
are using of Publisher, but Publisher 2003 improved it's Word Import feature
over 2002.

The Pub2003 Word import is substantially improved, however I still think it
is better to use RTF which gives a more consistent result if you must import
formatted text.

In Word do a SAVE AS and select RTF as it is more Publisher friendly and
reliable.
