Minus sign

M

Michael Batey

As everybody knows (!), the minus sign on the keyboard is actually a
nasty hyphen-minus hybrid and the 'correct' minus sign is tucked away
in Insert>Symbol, Mathematical Operators (between Epsilon and forward
slash).

I've looked all over for a keyboard shortcut for this, and I can't
find it. It's not specified within the Insert Symbol dialog.

Any ideas? I'm on Word 2000.

Use the autocorrect thing in Word.
Set it up so that when you type the "nasty minus sign" Word replaces it with
the "OK mathematical sign" which you prefer. Check the option that says
"keep the style" so that the Mathematical font stays with the corrected
sign.

This autocorrect function has been streamlined in Word XP but did work in
Word 2000.
