Mirrored?

I recently purchased a server from Dell with Raid 1 (mirrored). When I look
at computer management, disk management, it appears that there is only 1
hard drive. I confirmed with Dell that the sever was Raid 1. What does Raid
1 look like in disk mgt?

Hi Mr B,

This newsgroup is specifically for matters dealing with Microsoft Project.
I suggest you try to find a more appropriate newsgroup that deals with Raid
problems.

Could you please tell us what led you to chose this newsgroup? We would
really like to know! :)

I spent 15 minutes looking for a Windows Server 2003 group and found none. I
also looked for Server General and couldn't find one. So I took a chance
that someone here would steer me to an "appropriate" group. Sorry I'm off
topic, but I must have gone through that list 3 times.

Thanks for any help.

I would suggest: Servers > Windows Server 2003 >
file_system for a place to start. I think the answer is
the Raid 1 config is factory installed, therefore Windows
can only see the single logical (mirrored) drive. You
will probably have some additional software that
interrogates the RAID configuration and will display the
health of each drive. Disk Management will not know about
the RAID configuration.

RAID can either be implemented on a hardware or software level. If the
gentleman does not see two individual drives linked together in Disk
Management (NOS mirroring) just one drive. Then he must have a hardware
level RAID implemented. IMHO hardware mirroring is the best choice.

There are many news groups to choose from, it's very bewildering @ first.
