Mirroring columns

I have a certain amount of data in column A. I need to also have that identical data in column D. However, if I go back and add something to column A, I need for column D to automatically reflect the new data in A. I'm not dealing with numbers, I just need the list to stay replicative throughout future changes to A. Any help on this would be much appreciated.

If at all possible, it would also be nice for information put into D to be reflected in A.

You can't have both, since there has to be a priority. That is, suppose
you change the contents of cell D25 . How does Excel "know" that it's
OK to update the contents of cell A25, as opposed to forcing D25 to
'mirror' what is placed in A25?

Normally I would just point out that each cell in column D should just
have the formula " =A25" (for cell D25) , but I'm wondering what it is
you really want to do. Can you provide a small sample spreadsheet or
explain why you think data are going to be entered into both columns?
