misbehaving line spacing

Sometimes after importing some content from the Web into
a Word document, pressing <return> causes a jump down, as
if Line Spacing had been set at 1.5 even though it's set
at Single, and it won't respond to correction.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Check the paragraph formatting for Space Before/After. If that's not the
problem, go to the Layout tab of Page Setup and make sure the vertical
alignment is set to Top an not Justified.
