Misleading Resource Usage

In Microsoft Project, I have the following 2 tasks:

Task A | Duration = 1d | Start & Finish = Tue 12/02/08 | Resource = Dummy[50%]
Task B | Duration = 0.5d | Start & Finish = Tue 12/02/08 | Resource =
Dummy[100%]

Assuming Dummy works 8 hours a day, on Tue 12/02/08, he is allocated to Task
A for 4 hours and Task B for 4 hours and this is reflected correctly on the
Task Usage page.

However, if you look at the Resource Graph page, Dummy is actually 150%
allocated on Tue 12/02/08 and is showing that he is being overallocated,
which is not true.

Is there options / settings I could change to make the Resource Graph page
showing the true allocation? Or am I missing something here?

Thanks!

Hi,

If you look at the resource graph page carefully you will notice below the
mention Peak Units.
Probably both activities start at beginning of day, so for the first half
day Dummy is assigned 150%, for the second half 50%; his PEAK UNITS are
150%, that's what makes him turn read.

Read more about it in FAQ 34 in http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm

To show work in the resource graph right-click on the graphical part and
select Work.

If you right-click in the graph area of the Resource Graph you will
probably find you are displaying "Peak Units". Try selecting "Percent
Allocation".

Alternatively, look at the Resource Usage view to find out why you are
getting the results you are.
