Missing button graphics to some users

I use FrontPage2003 to create websites. I have recently made this website:

In asking the chapter Regent (president) to approve the site, she originally
could see the buttons on the left, but about 2 weeks her son-in-law removed
the Google toolbar from her computer and "some other unnecessary things" (her
words, not mine.)

NOW, after he "cleaned up" her computer, the buttons on the above site are
missing for her. She says she can still click on them, and they work, but
the graphics (images) are missing. She seems to think that *I* have done
something to the website to cause her problem, but I have not made any
changes to her website in about two MONTHS (or longer).

I have done other websites (www.isdar.org) but she tells me that she *can*
see the image buttons on the left...

I'm totally STUMPED as to what is causing her problem. She is *NOT* seeing
a RED "X"... she tells me that the graphics are just not there for her to
see. She is across the state from me, and we are both "just volunteers" so
there is no way I can (or WANT) to work on her computer.

Any thoughts GREATLY appreciated.

Brenda,
First, I can definitely see the buttons on the left. You could even
point her to a direct URL for one of the buttons (such as the contact us
http://www.isdar.org/chapters/cedarfalls/button5E.gif ) and show her that
even the file is right there. Given the fact that other users can see it,
and the issue only happened after something was "tweaked" on her computer, I
would agree that it's probably just her computer. Now, one of the things
that could be the cause is some setting with JavaScript has been changed.
The rollover images use JavaScript to create the rollover effect as well as
a preload functionality. If the JavaScript functionality is turned off, or
the security setting for her browser is set too high, then the functions
that rely on JavaScript may not work properly. The fact that she's not
seeing red X's may support this theory as the red X should only be shown
when an image isn't available, as in the file doesn't exist on the server.
If the javascript used to load the image's source value isn't firing, then I
wouldn't expect a red X since the image simply hasn't had it's filename set.

Now, what you may try to do to get around this, is to remove the OnLoad
attribute for the body tag. You'll see in the <body> tag there's an
attribute called onload. That's used to call a function to pre-load the
images. If you try removing it (and everything enclosed in the quotes) that
may help. You would want to remove onload="FP_preloadImgs(.........)" Of
course, you'll want to make a backup of the page just in case this doesn't
work and you want to restore it. Hopefully that will fix her problems though
she still may not see the rollover effects if her JavaScript is messed up.

I've checked the web site in IE and Firefox on several different computers.
The web site is fine. Her son-in-law screwed up her computer when he
removed "some other unnecessary things".

I *hate* know-it-all son-in-laws. I lost a customer just last week
because of one.

Hi,

I am guessing you are correct -- I'm trying to find in IEv7, where to point
her to check on this...

her javascripts have been disabled.

I can't find the spot in Internet Explorer v7, to check to see if
javascripts have been disabled. Could you please point me to it?

Tools | Internet Options
Security Tab
Click Custom level button at bottom right. The Security settings dialog box
will pop up.
Under Scripting category check Active Scripting
Check radio boxes.
OK, OK out.

She said that didn't help her, although I am probably communicating with a
lady that may not be very computer literate. I believe her son-in-law will
hopefully return this weekend and take care of the problem.

I will also see if she can add the site to her trusted sites, in hopes THAT
will fix the problem.

Thank you for trying to help. After her computer is back to working
normally, I'll post the fix (probably what you have already suggested).
