Missing by letter Text Animation Delay?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel My intent is to make a text box that appears like a DOS command prompt with typewriter style text animation.

In the Windows PowerPoint, the text animation tab has a delay option when doing by letter animation. The Mac PowerPoint is missing this option. I can enter a number in the Timing section, but it does not seem to apply to text animations.

There are quite a few letters in the text box ... how can I speed this up???

I have no idea what specific animation effect you're using but I assume it
is one of the Entrance effects... Most likely 'Appear', which does not have
a speed setting as it does in 07. Unfortunately there are many differences
between the 07/08 versions & that's one of them :-(

The best alternative I can suggest is that you use the Color Typewriter
effect [Entrance> Moderate] instead. It does have a variable speed setting
that may help. Before you ask, though, No, you can't modify the color scheme
used by the Mac version, although you can do so in 07.

I am referring to the option available in the Windows version. See "Typewriter Text" section here: http://www.ellenfinkelstein.com/powerpoint_tip_text_animation.html

OK, my guess was right - the title bar of the dialog indicates that it is
the 'Appear' Entrance Effect. As I wrote, the Mac PPT counterpart does not
provide the "seconds delay between letters" setting. IIRC, the effect will
use the delay when played on a Mac but the setting can neither be made nor
adjusted in other than the PC version of PPT.
