Missing Contacts afer uninstalling BCM / Ooutllok 2003

I recently evaluated a copy of the new outlook 2003 with
business contact manager. Before that I was using outlook
2002. I had a contacts category called business which was
ported over the business contact manager application.
after deciding that we did not need outlook 2003, we
uninstalled it and went back to outlook 2002. Now we cant
find all our business contacts. how do we get them back?
there are files on my pc with mdf and ldf extensions...

The easiest way to recover them might be to reinstall BCM and export (File |
Import & Export | Business Contact Manager).

If you don't want to do that, you can try to connect to the BCM database
with Microsoft Access, assuming the uninstall didn't remove the database,
too. I did it by setting up a DSN to connect to the local SQL
machinename\MICROSOFTBCM server .

Hi Sue,

I have the option of saving the export file as a .bcm
file or a csv file. which one can easily be imported back
into outlook 02 and how do I do that? I tried importing
the csv file into outlook 02 and had an error message
about unrecognizable file type ... help!

..csv will import into regular Outlook contacts. .bcm will import only into
BCM. You can always open the .csv file in Excel before importing to see if
it needs cleaning up.
