Missing cursor

I just installed Office 2008. I am using Word, and the cursor seems to disappear. I click on a location in the text and type, the text appears, but the cursor is gone, which makes it very tough to select a specific spot in the text.

I have tried resizing, changing fonts, reducing the window and opening it again. The only thing that seems to bring the cursor back is to close the doc and reopen it, but then the cursor disappears again.

Any clues?

Hi jbe,

We have had reports of this before and so far no solution (or cause). Can
you identify any action that typically triggers this behavior? No one has
been able to nail it down.

Sorry for the trouble. I¹m wondering if you can elaborate a bit.

Does this problem occur with all documents? If not, can you send me a
document that causes it to occur?

Also, it would be good to know:
1. your machine specs (particularly OS version, video card/driver, the mouse
you¹re using along with the settings for it in System Prefs).
2. if it only occurs at certain zoom levels or in specific views?
3. if it only occurs in certain areas of the document, e.g. Header/footer,
tables, etc.
4. if deleting or moving your Normal template takes care of the problem
