Hi Bryan,

When you are asked for the CD, at the bottom of that
dialog it says 'use feature from'. It is that Office 2000
product CD that you will need to insert at that point.
Data1.msi is the main installer file name for CD#1 of
each of the various MS Office 2000 family products.

If you're adding Service Release 1 to Office 2000 and
you are feeding it the CD it is asking for then this
article may apply:

Hi guys:
I am having the same problem...the data1.msi file is not
on the MS office 200 professional cd. I have tried over
and over, have reinstalled ms office, have tried
everything, cannot get it to work.
My problem comes when I try to use MS publisher 2000
deluxe (which I have been using for months with no
problem)...all of a sudden it won't work unless I install
the sp1a.........AARRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!! help!

Hi Sharon,

Data1.msi is on CD#1 of each MS Office 2000 product.
If you're not showing file extensions it will appear
in Windows Explorer as Data1. As mentioned in the
previous reply make sure you're putting in the CD
it's asking for in 'use feature from'. It may *not*
be the one for the app you're presently using. The MS
Installer can ask for a product CD for any product it
thinks may have an issue.
