The Outlook desktop Icon created when installing Outlook has special
properties that the shortcut does not.

Depending on your operating system, try using the option for selecting what
icons appear on the desktop.

| Are you saying that you had the actual outlook.exe file on the
| desktop, rather than a shortcut that points to it? Why in the world
| would you do that?
|
| If that's truly the case, then I suggest that you reinstall.
|
| If that's not really the case, then use Windows Explorer to navigate
| to the location of Outlook.exe, right-drag it to the desktop, and
| choose Create Shortcut Here from the pop-up menu. The location of
| Outlook.exe varies by version. Outlook 10's (2002/XP) outlook.exe
| would typically be in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10.

It's not the actualy outlook file - its the one that is
installed with the office install - the one you can get
properties on and pull up the outlook configuration - so
far I have found 2 ways to put this original icon back:

1. add/remove programs and do repair on the office install
2. setuppro.exe ADDLOCAL="OUTLOOKNonBootFiles - this also
replaces the icon - but it takes the original license key.

I would love to find a better and quicker solution to
this restore. Any thoughts?

Gerri
