missing dialog box

Word 2002 on XP.
Select
File
Open
Highlight 2 documents and right click, select Open.
Get dialog box - 'The command you selected is not available from this
shortcut menu'
Click OK, close the explorer window.
Try to close Word by clicking on the X
'You cannot close Microsoft Word because a dialog is active. Switch to
Microsoft Work first and close the dialog'
Close this box.

Word is still waiting for a dialog box response, and the process has to
be killed to free it up.

If you minimize the document window, you'll probably find a dialog open
behind it.

.... I am using 2 screens, and it makes no difference which one I am
using for Word (or if I use both)

no - no Norton products present.
I guess it's just one of those 'features'... strange no-one else gets
the peoblem though.

If you go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, is the Work Suite Add-in
listed? If so, uninstall it.

nope!
I tried this on someone else's PC running Word 2002 and the same
problem occurs.
I also tried on Word 2003 - and you get 2 dialog boxes when you try to
open 2 documents - both saying there's another dialog box open! But at
least you can close them both, and Word is still working afterwards.
So I guess it's one of those 'fixed in a later release' things.
