missing document

looking for a document typed but got saved over and was
wondering if any way to retreive the original document?

No. Unless you have "Always create backup copy" enabled, in which case the
"Backup of <filename>.wbk" file (in the same folder with the current
version) will be the previous version. You'll need to display All Files to
see it.
