Missing documents filed in OLKE

T

Tonyc

Yesterday I created 2 documents in Word 2002. This
morning, I could not find the documents when I clicked on
FILE; then OPEN. they were not listed. I tried searching
for the documents with no luck.

I recreated the documents and hit FILE SAVE AS A folder
called OLKE popped up and listed there were the 2 files
from the day before.

What is up with this OLKE folder? Why did the files get
stored there? Why can't I find this folder when I use
Windows Explorer?

Thank you.

It seems likely that third-party document management software is involved.

Hi Suzanne

I found one post in the Google archives that suggested OLKE was a temporary
internet folder. Perhaps it is becoming the current directory during some
sort of Web access to Word documents?

No fix in the archives I could find, however. I wonder if this is the
explanation of previous 'my document has disappeared' posts?

A document opened from the Web might be treated like an email attachment
opened directly (without saving to the HD first)--opened in a temp
folder--which is certainly a common cause of disappearing documents.
