Missing drop down options from the File menu

The options under the file menu in Word 2003 have disappeared. How can I
restore these options?

Sorry, you’ve landed in a MacWord group (not your fault, one of the web
interfaces is *very* badly designed). You might get an answer from the
people here who use both Windows and Mac, but you should try asking your
question on the general Word newsgroups. Start here:

Hiya you haven't give us all information needed.
There are few possibilities:
1. There is a feature in all Office programs that it hide commands in
the menu that are used rarely. In that case you should see double
arrow at the bottom of the menu like this >> but pointing down, click
on that and you should see all the missing commands.
2. while all office application closed backup your normal.dot file
(search your PC for taht file) for example on USB drive and trash the
original normal.dot, keep the backup, restart word and see if that
helps.
3. If that is not your case, try to run help>detect and repair
function
but before make sure you backup these files (search your PC form them
and set the attributes for hidden) normal.dot, personal.xls,
xlusrgal.xls, *.pst file
