Missing email in Entourage, but it's in Outlook and OWA

I've seen a few messages like this, but none seem quite the same. So here goes...

I was waiting for a large message (a video file attachment) to show up in Entourage, and it never arrived. Thought it was just our slow network, but then realized the message is visible in my inbox in Outlook and in webmail. In fact, there is another message from several days ago also there, but Entourage is not showing it.

My Entourage 2008 is 12.2.0 with "latest installed update 12.2.1". I'm connecting to an Exchange 2003 server.

The headers of one of the missing message is below in case it sheds any light on the problem:

I'm getting other (smaller) messages from the same user. Could it be
a problem because of the large attachments? The message above has a
71 MB AVI file and another 43 MB AVI file. The other missing email
has 3 AVI attachments that are 13, 88, and 58 MB.

E-mail is really not intended for such large attachments like this.
While it may work, I can think of many reason why this could cause problems.

Use an online service such as <http://www.getdropbox.com/>, which will
be much more reliable and should be much faster.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, I realize e-mail isn't the best for large attachments. But in our corporate environment it's often the norm.

So even while not optimal, those large attachments are showing up just fine for my colleagues who use Outlook (we're primarily a Windows shop). Meanwhile, in Entourage I don't even see the message let alone the large attachments.

Unless Entourage specifically doesn't support showing messages with attachments over a certain size (can somebody confirm this is the case?), I would expect the message to appear regardless of its size.

P.S. The messages that are missing in Entourage are showing up just fine in Apple Mail. I guess I could switch to that if it will be more reliable.

I am having the same issue today with Entourage fetching new messages from
the OWA Server. I've tried a variety of fixes none of which are working.

Entourage 2008 will not show jpgs in the message if they are over 400kb.

Is Entourage being used to send these large files behind the server or from
an outside location?

So, you've mentioned that you have better luck with Outlook and Apple's
Mail.

Outlook uses MAPI.
Mail uses IMAP.
Entourage uses WebDAV.

Probably, the protocol is the problem. Try creating a new account in
Entourage. Configure it as an IMAP account instead of an Exchange
account and see if this works better for you.
