Missing Equals sign on formula bar

Our company has finally made it into the 21st century and we now have
Excel 2003.

One of the things that I have noticed missing is the equals sign to the
immediate left of the formula bar, so now I have to type either the +
or = to start entering a formula. Is there a way of turning this on.

Actually, MS eliminated it in xl2002.

But there is an equal sign icon that you can add to your favorite toolbar.

Tools|Customize|Commands tab|Insert Category
(a little more than half way down the commands list.)

It's not quite the same, but it may be sufficient for you.
