Missing feature in Word 2008?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Did the developers remove the Cut and Paste icons feature from Word 2008? I have looked all over for them with no luck.

I would like someone to respond to me about this. Many little features about Word 2008 are deficient; but the loss of Cut and Paste icons is the most annoying.

Hi,

the icons are not really lost; they are simply not included with the
Standard toolbar by default.

Here's how you can restore them: ctrl-/right-click your toolbar, then
choose Customize Toolbars and Menus from the contextual menu. Switch to
the Commands tab, click on Edit, then drag the commands you want (Cut,
Copy, Paste) from the Commands list to the toolbar. When you are done,
click on OK, and you should have your toolbar icons back.

Thanks very much. I will do as you suggested. But I hope somebody takes my point that good things from software should not be left out or changed in new versions. This is a common problem in all MS new releases.

I don't know this to be a fact, but my instincts tell me that MS research
quite likely found that those buttons are far less frequently used by most
people than you might think. The keyboard shortcuts & availability of those
commands in the contextual (Control/Right-Click) menus have become far more
popular techniques for executing them.

It's also possible that somebody simply forgot to put them there :)

99% of users have to delete those two to make room for useful stuff.

I hope Microsoft leaves them off, and I could give it a list of 20 others
that could also go to make room for useful controls.

Cheers
