Missing Files Types Photo Editor Windows 2000 Office 2000

When I try to open any jpg,jpeg, tiff, or giff file I
receive an error message indicating that the file type
cannot be located in the registry. I used this machine for
2 years before this happened. I tried detect and repair,
uninstalling and reinstalling Office, but no help. Can
anyone suggest a solution, or even a cause?
