Missing Font Menu

My home ribbon does not have the Font Menu on it like everything I have read
tells me it should (YES I did make sure that it was not just microscopic due
to my window size). I only can access the Font Menu through the vastly
annoying floating menu (this truely irritates me so if anyone knows how to
get rid of that as well). I have gotten around this by adding the used
functions to my Quick Access Toolbar but would appreciate any help as to
where my font menu is and why its not where it should be.

If the Font group is not being displayed on your Home tab (it should be the
second group, betwen Clipboard and Paragraph), then either your copy of Word
is damaged or it has been customized by your IT department. And I'm still
not understanding what this floating toolbar is if it's not the Mini
Toolbar.
