Missing fonts - Office 2003?

N

nancylee

I updated to Office 2003 (Standard Edition) from Office Professional XP a
couple of days ago by download from Microsoft website. I just received the
backup CD in the mail. Many of the fonts listed as included in Office 2003
were not installed on my computer with Office 2003. I went to "Choose
Advanced Customization of Application" through "Change/Remove Programs" from
the "Control Panel" and with the CD, but "Fonts" is not an option under
"Office Shared Features." How can I install the full list of fonts that are
supposed to be available with Office 2003?

The website does not list Office 2003 Standard Edition in the choices of
programs to find the fonts.

So, do I have to buy Office 2003 Professional Edition to get all of the
Office 2003 fonts? If so, can I upgrade Office 2003 Standard Edition to
Office 2003 Professional?

I can't answer that. I don't know which fonts are specific to which
programs. I'd suggest searching Microsoft's site to see if you can find the
information you need.

nancylee, I suspect if you put your CDs in and use Change/Remove and set
everything to "run from my computer," all the fonts -- at least all that
should install with Office 2003 Standard -- will install.

Then you can go back and use Change/Remove to reset those features to
"install on first use" and "run from CD" as desired. I believe that
resetting those options will not uninstall the fonts. If you're worried it
will, though, you can always make a copy of your fonts folder just in case.

Did you check the Fonts folder to verify they weren't installed?

Also, if you have a "Generic/Text only" printer set as your default
you will a limited set of fonts.

I know this is old but I have a similar problem. Some fonts like Broadway
and Brush BT are missing from my Word 2003 pro. I heed to know how to find
them and load them on my PC. Can you help?

Those fonts are part of the Office 2003 setup. Office doesn't install all the fonts,
you can insert your setup disk and select to install all the fonts.

In addition, some fonts may only be installed if you install a template or
sample document/presentation that uses them. I know the additional
PowerPoint Presentation Designs are what would install Arial Narrow with one
of the versions of Office (I think it was Office 2000). I'd assume that
still holds true today. So be sure to install all templates and anything
else like that you might find.
