Missing header and footer

Hi all,

For some reason I can't see the header and footer sections when I open
a new document. Clicking "View > Header and Footer (+ closing)" makes
them visible again. Still I would like to see those sections when Word
starts up and shows a fresh new document. Neither removing nor
adapting "Normal.dot" did have any effect.

Any ideas!?
