Missing Identity

I opened my Entourage and it showed the set up assistant. My emails,
settings, etc are gone. I did switch user and nothing. It created a new
one...my old identity is no where to be found.

Any suggestions?

I am using Snow Leopard and Office 2008 - this computer is less than a month
old....

Did you move the Microsoft User Data folder or any of its subfolders??
What you describe is typical of that sort of situation,

I had a similar situation. I was advised in then setting up of iDisk by an Apple Genius that I could create an alias for my Documents folder and replace the original folder with the alias. which i was able to do. The problem is when it came to sync the MS Data folder it was too big/crashed etc (about 9GB). All the MS Office products then froze. I then got my back up of the MS User data folder but created an alias for it in the new Documents folder., hoping that it would fix it. Well the MS office programs launched just fine except when entourage opened up now all the email and information and emails were missing. basically a clean copy of entourage opened. Is there any way to reinsert the main identity back (import my email and restore)? i would like to retain the integrity of this system where I dont have to sync the whole 9GB with iDisk.

Placing your Identity on your iDisk is NOT recommended. It will be too
slow and cause you nothing but problems.

Entourage opened in a new blank Identity because it could not find the
Identity folder you moved. Move the files back you aliased and open
Entourage. Your mail should be there as expected.
