missing insert address button in envelopes and labels

When using the envelopes and labels feature in letters and mailings with Word
2003, the insert address button is missing. I've checked the help and
training files to ensure that this was a feature with Office 2003
Professional, and I see the little address book next to delivery address and
return address showing you what to do, but it's not there on my installation.
Any suggestions?

Two possibilities occur to me. First, ensure that your Contacts folder is
set up to be used as an Outlook Address Book. In Outlook, right-click the
Contacts folder and choose Properties - Outlook Addres Book tab. Make sure
that Show this foldler as an e-mail address book is checked.

If that's not the problem, you have have corrupted registry entries or a
damaged or missing .dll. I would suggest trying Help - Detect and Repair.

Thanks for the prompt reply! I didn't even have Outlook installed. I prefer
not to use it and wished not to install it when I installed Office
Professional, but after I did install it so I could follow your directions
the insert address icon appeared. It doesn't however list my contacts that I
created in the address book under accessories in Windows. I've tried
importing them hoping Outlook would recognize the address book, but it
didn't. I ended up having to export them as a CSV and import them into
Outlook.

Again, I appreciate your time, attention, and your prompt reply to my
question.
