Missing/lost Sent Items

Hi,

I use Outlook XP 2002 with IMAP.

Problem: The Sent Items folder exists, but is empty. Some older Sent Items
have been archived, but all recent sent mail seems to be lost. Also,
although I have Outlook setup to automatically save sent items,(the default)
for some reason this now does not happen. As a test, if I send an email to
myself it arrives as it should but the Sent Items folder remains empty.

I find the Sent Items folder invaluable for my job so I would be very
grateful for any help with this problem.

Thanks!

Hi Jerry,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you.

I'm looking at a PC running Outlook 2003 at the moment , which is a little
different, but hopefully enough will be the same to be of help.

In my case the Sent Items folder appeared to be empty because the View was
set to the wrong option. I'll explain,
1) Open Outlook
2) Select the Sent Items folder
3) From the Menubar select View > Arrange By > Current View and select the
'Sent To' option

If you have the same problem the contents of the Sent Items folder should
now appear. In my case the user had accidently selected the 'Unread Messages
in This Folder' option. And as he had never re-read any of his sent messages,
the Sent Items folder appeared to be totally empty, causing a state of panic.

Hope this of help, if not get back to me and I'll try and respond a little
more quickly.
