Missing menu commands/Word X

I've seen the numerous postings on the problem with Word 2001/2004, etc
What about in Word X? I lost the Print and Page Set-Up commands a fe
days ago and have the feeling that various other commands are no longe
visible. There aren't really any Preferences that I can trash, as fa
as I can see. Sounds like something somewhere is corrupted, but i
there anything I can do, short of uninstalling and starting over? (G
desktop/Mac OS 10.3.9/Word X)

Thanks!

"Uninstalling and starting over" are almost never a good idea with Mac
applications (it's not always the best option with Windows apps, either,
but it seems to be the attempt of first resort). The problem is rarely,
if ever, in the application itself.

If you've read about "the problem" with Word 2001/2004, you should have
also gotten some solutions other than uninstalling, because the
solutions are the same.

By default, the menus in Word are stored in the Normal template. Take a
look here

http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/MacWordNormal.htm

for help in fixing it (if you use Safari, you'll have to hit the Refresh
button a few times per page at that site).

Sometimes caused by accidentally pressing control-8. m.
Mzvetina,

Make sure you didn't accidentally turn on "Word 5.1 Menus" (that's the
control-8 thing). Look under View to see if there's a check next to that
option. If that isn't the problem:

If you go to Tools | Customize Toolbars/Menus, select the Menu Bar, and
click Reset, it should set all your main menus and built-in toolbars back to
the default.

If you have customized your menus or toolbars, you may want to explore the
Tools | Customize, Commands dialog, and drag the commands you are missing
back to the toolbars/menus yourself, rather than wipe out your
customizations by clicking Reset.
