Missing menu in template

Hi

I have created a template (.DOT) and in the template I have created two new
menus. I have then copied the template into the Word STARTUP folder so that
the two new menus will be added when opening Word.
The strange part is that when I open up Word only one of the menus are
visible. If I double click on the actual template file then both menus are
visible?????

Hi

If you *copied* the template into the Startup folder, then delete one. Both
you and Word will get very confused if you have a template and an add-in
with the same name.

Once your file is in the Startup folder, it gets loaded as an add-in every
time you start Word. It's not a good idea to try to edit the file while it
is operating as an add-in. So use Tools > Templates and Add-ins to unload
it. Then use File > Open to edit it. Make your changes, save, and then use
Tools > Templates and Add-ins to re-load it as an add-in.

So, once you have just one copy of this file on your machine, and it is not
loaded as an add-in, then use Tools > Templates and Add-ins > Organizer to
be absolutely certain that the toolbars really are in this file. What's
likely is that one is stored in Normal.dot and one is in your file. If
that's the case, copy the one in Normal.dot to your file, and then delete
the toolbar in Normal.dot.

Hope this helps.

Hi Shauna

Thanks for your reply.

I might not have been good enough to describe the problem. The menu I
created is in the same row as Files, Edit, Tools, Help and so on. If I use
the Tools -> Templates -> Organizer then I can only copy the button menus.

I am quit sure that the two menus are in the template.dot and not in
normal.dot. If I open up Word as normal then I don't have any extra menus,
only if I add the template.dot as an add-in.
