Missing Menu Items

Excel X for Office
0SX 10.4.11
733/1gb/

I customized a tool bar last night and when I started Excel this
morning the basic drop down menu no longer has the File or Edit
columns; the first label is now View, Insert, etc.

I tried restarting Excel with same result.
I logged on in a manager acct. and the Menu is normal, so I logged
back in to my acct. and tried dumping the User/Library/ pref. file,
but that didn't help.

Any suggestions?

Go into Tools> Customize> Customize Menus/Toolbars. On the Toolbars page
click the name of the Menu Bar, then click Reset. If that doesn't do it you
can go to the Commands page of the same dialog & drag new copies of the
menus back to where they should go from the Built-In Menus category.

Post back indicating specific version info if you still have a problem.

Thank you for the speedy and helpful response.
The answer wasn't exactly intuitive, but I'm sure Microsoft has
corrected that in latter editions :)

Unfortunately it's one of those freaky things that can't be reproduced - at
least not with any degree of regularity. If you can't repro the problem it's
almost impossible to determine the cause... and if you can't identify the
cause you can't formulate a cure.

Glad you were able to resolve it.
