Missing messages after compacting

I agreed to compact my e-mail when prompted, but now all my sent messages
from the last two months are missing. The sent messages from 2006 until
September 23rd, 2007, however, are still there. How do I get back my sent
messages from the last two months? Please help!

And this was with outlook? I've never seen it offer to compact, it just does
it when white space hits 20%. OE will ask... so check help, about and if
it's Outlook express you've probably lost the email as its compacting is
screwy.

If the OP's OE is fully patched, then the compacting process puts a copy of
all the mail folders in the recycle bin....
