Missing MS Office file - DATA1.MSI

H

HELLO

I am trying to download MS Office 2000 Updates. When it asks me to insert my
Office CD, a message says that the file needed, DATA1.MSI can't be found.
What do I do? How do I get this file?

Every MS Office family product in the 2000 series
had a 'Data1.msi' file on CD #1 for that product.
It does not install to your computer.

When you are asked for the file/CD look for the
'use feature from' part of that dialog to find out
what CD is needed.

The MS Installer software expects to always have
access to the original installation point/media
when installing or updating. Part of its preparation
for updating is to check to see if Office needs any
repairs.

HELLO

Thanks for the reply, Bob. I have my original MS Office CDs. When prompted,
I inset the CD into the drive and that's when a message tells me that there
is no DATA1. I have never had trouble before updating. If this file is on
the CD, (I understand that you to say it doesn't actually install), why
doesn't it show when I do a file search on the CD?

If it's an Office 2000 CD is it the same title as
in the 'use feature from' box asking for the CD?
Is it CD#1 of the Office 2000 series product being used?

If you use Start=>Find/Search and look at the CD for
DATA*.MSI what file names do you get in the search?
