Missing .MSI File

Dave

I am trying to update my Office XP with SP1, SP2 and SP3
and I get the message that the PROPLUS.MSI file is
missing. How can I find this file as it does not appear
to be on my Installation CD

The proplus.msi file is one belonging to a widely pirated version that has
since been voided. Unless you are an employee of the organization from
which this file was pirated and cannot get the newer version issued to it, I
would suggest that you try to purchase a legal copy.

I am having exactly the same problem updating my Office XP. When the
installer asks for the original Office XP disk it is looking for a file
called
Proplus.msi and the only msi file available on my original disk is pro.msi.
I can tell you categorically that my version of XP came from Microsoft,
although it is a bulk license product purchased through my company
( Major Canadian Bank ) it is most definately not a pirated version.
It is the updater looking for proplus.msi, not the other way around.

Hi Gaetano,

From your description the version used to install Office XP
on your PC appears to have been
'Microsoft Office XP Professional+Front Page', but the
disk you were given appears to be from
Microsoft Office XP Professional.

You'll need to contact your employer that you mentioned
and obtain a CD of the Edition that was installed, or
backup your files, uninstall Office, restart the PC and
install from the CD of the Edition that you do have.
The installed set and the install source do need to
be from the same Edition.
