missing .msp files

I did a system restore (windows xp pro) and now cannot
update Office 2000. It says my .msp files are missing
and doesn't give a way to replace them. Microsoft
articles indicate this is a known bug. Is there a known
fix?

For a possible solution, see my reply to
Steve's "data1.msi" posting dated 11/12. Run the cleanup
utility and uninstall Office 2000. The reinstall it. As
Microsoft indicates, this solution is applicable only to
Windows Installer Versions 1.1 and earlier.

Post whether or not this works for you.
