Missing msp files

I get this message when I try to run Office Updates. "Windows Installer patch
files (.MSP files) from previously applied Office updates are missing from
the \Windows\Installer hidden directory on your computer. MSP files are
stored on your computer after update installation completes because they need
to be referenced for future update operations. If the files are missing you
will not be able to apply Office updates. You may also be unable to uninstall
Office products as a result of the same problem." How do I correct this?
I've tried uninstalling Office 2003 Pro and reinstalling. It doesn't help.
Replys to (e-mail address removed) are appreciated.

Ryan,

I have the exact same problem as "earlbenz." Running the LIS tool did
nothing to help me.

I used the MS Installer Cleanup Utility and then reinstalled Office 2003. I
fixed everything. I no longer get the Windows Installer trying to run
everytime I try to do something in Outlook and I can get Office updates.
Thanks.

Looks like running a cleanup utility helped him. You can try this and also
you can try uninstalling and reinstalling. Even though that is painful it
may be the quickest way to solve your problems without troubleshooting
through other suggestions.

Thanks,
Ryan

The Windows Installer registry cleaner fixed the issue for me. I was able to
reinstall Office 2003 suite after removing the registry entries.
