missing Office shortcut bar

I have Office XP Professional and the office shortcut bar loaded every time
and worked perfectly until about July, 2006. First I began having to load it
manually, then it stopped appearing altogether. I've tried removing and
reinstalling Office but that didn't help. It seems like the bar actually
loads but might be hidden behind the task bar at the bottom of the screen.
Once I got it to appear as a small rectangle but I couldn't get it to
maximize. Then it dissapeared forever. What happened? Does anyone know how
to fix it? Jim
