On my school network, a message pops up each time I load up Word2000
(but not Word97, which is also installed) saying "Missing shortcut",
which then searches for a program which is no longer installed on the
network. The message appears twice and I cancel it each time (if
allowed to run it suggests linking the shortcut to a different program
of course).
I cannot find any reference to this in the Help section. I looked at
KB article Q211793, and using the /a switch solves the problem,
however it is not a problem with the template. The problem is
user-specific; ie it affects me, and I've seen it on one other user,
so it's not a registry issue. I've looked all through the AppData
folder and can't find anything. Tools - Customise is not available on
our network so I can't do anything that way either.
I do have admin rights on the network so I can sort things out that
way.
To me it's a petty annoyance as I'm leaving here in three weeks, but
as it also affects other users I'd like to leave a solution behind!
Any ideas?
