missing .pst

N

needhelp

Hi, I cannot find mailboxes or subfolders of the mailbox I created in
Outlook '03(Windows XP). I still receive new messages to the .pst but all
the previous messages are gone. I have tried using the "detect and repair"
but that has worked. I have no idea what happened. I don't understand why I
can still get messages but can't find my old ones.

Please help!!

Outlook does not do this all by itself. Think hard and tell us the rest of
this story.

I was doing some spring cleaning....I cleaned out my document folders by
deleting word attachments that came with the emails. Deleted shortcuts on
the desktop that i didn't need and they had nothing to do with outlook. They
were spreadsheets and documents. The usual cleaning to free up space...Then
went to open Outlook. All my messages and subfolders for the designated
mailbox were gone...completely! I thought maybe it was in another pst.
Found the psts and still no messages. I still receive messages just fine to
the mailbox that's missing messages and the subfolders. So I don't get it.
I have been able to save my new messages and I did it exactly like how I
have been doing it...move to folder...I have the archive set for 6months and
to prompt. i checked there too...no messages. Just bizarre. Everything was
fine for the last 9 days I was using the new mailbox and then all of the
sudden gone.

Help!

Then it would appear you tossed your PST file during your spring cleaning.
Do you back up your data? Have you searched your hard drive for all PST
files and opened each to see if you can find it?

Hi Russ-I have done a search for psts and found them but still no messages.
They are just archived messages from a year ago. My current messages are
still coming in and I am sure to the same pst. I don't how they disappeared,
even the subfolders I created in the specific mailbox are gone. Any other
suggestions? thx.

If they aren't in your Deleted Items Folder, they are gone.
How can you be so certain you are still using the same PST? If that were
true, you would have had to delete these messages deliberately while running
Outlook.
