Does anyone know how to add the "Purge IMAP items marked for deletion"
command to the toolbar?

Before you answer, the option is missing from View, Toolbars, Customize,
Edit, as the instructions indicate.

it should only be visible when you are in imap folders. if you are and it's
still gone, reset the toolbars. It's on the menu bar, under Edit, by default
so reset that one first.

You *must* have an IMAP account defined. The function is inappropriate
otherwise.
You *must* have the IMAP folders selected. The function is inappropriate
for other type of accounts.
