"Missing Registry Information" Error

Harassed by MSN to download and install "MSN Messenger
v6.0, now Access 2000 does not work. I get the
message, "Missing Registry Information" and closes. I've
repaired, installed, removed and installed Access -
nothing works. Why does Microsoft SUCK??? If you have any
ideas, please let me know. Meanwhile, I'll be in the
market for a G-5 Mac.

Hi Bob -

Try these steps - following the instructions in the articles referenced.
(http://support.microsoft.com)

1. Uninstall Office 2000 (all disks) using Control Panel

2. Run Eraser97.exe. KB article: Q176823

3. Run Eraser2K.exe. KB article: Q239938

4. Eraser2k.exe will give you Eraser2000.exe. Find and run Eraser2000.exe.

5. Run EraseCD2.exe. KB article: Q247674. Answer yes to overwriting any
files.

6. EraseCD2.exe will give you Eraser2000a.exe. Find and run
Eraser2000a.exe.

7. Install Office 2000 to the default directory. Make sure all programs are
working.
