Missing Sounds In Outlook..?

S

Seth Gordon

Hello, I use Outlook 2007 (running Vista) for a good part of the day and it
wasn't until recently I realized that sounds.exe (downloaded from MS site)
wasn't always working. For instance I would click on the send/receive button
and the sound would play. I would click it again and nothing... It's not
that it's a big deal but now that I notice it, it's driving me nuts :) I
tried reinstalling sounds.exe, I tried reinstalling my soundcard drivers
(SoundBlater X-Fi Elite Pro), still nothing. Does anyone have any ideas what
could be cause this or how to fix it?

What sounds are you expecting when you press send/receive? The new mail notification will only play for new mail received every 5 minutes. Were you expecting something different? Or is this a different sound that you expect to play? Do you get the sounds for changing folders, or new mail, or once you send?

I've always used the sounds.exe for office. When you click on "provide
feedback with sounds" option it directs you to this. Anyways, when you click
on send/receive it usually makes a "clicking" noise. It also makes sounds
when you click on folders, create new email, send email, etc. Like I said,
it's not that important, but it's one of those things, once you notice it, it
bothers you :)

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling? I have had to do so on a few of my machines over the years as the sounds seem to become dissociated from the Office program.
