Missing Tasks/resources-PS-2003

Mark Byington

We have created 2 Virtual PS-2003 servers that are mirror images of our
Physical boxes. We also created a test database, then used editsite.exe to
point to the test DB. All this to test upgrades.

I have a PM who entered a new task on here project. It shows up in the
tasksheet view for the team member, but when selecting the project in PWA
project center, the task is not there. When trying to attache a document to
the task in that projects document area, that task is not there.

I have had the same result trying to add a resource to PWA. In the resource
view, they don't appear. However, in the admin view for users and group,
they do.

I have since shut down the virtual servers and the 'not show up' conditions
remain.

Anyone have any experience with this? (I'll accept a wild stab in the dark)
Added note...I didn't do anything with WSS because we were not upgrading it.

It sounds like it could be a permissions problem (categories and the like).
Can you see everything as administrator. Is it just one task, or all the
tasks?

Hey Ben,

No, it's any new task. I've been administrator since inseption. Never had
this problem. I can see everything.

The virtual boxes are still shut down. I just added a task to another
project and saved it (not published) which means it should be visible going
through the project center in PWA. It isn't there.

Just had the PM add a 'test task' for herself on her project. Same result.
Deleted and re-added the resource. Same result. Not visible in the
resource center view, but is clearly there if using the admin 'User and
Groups' function.

It almost acts like we've reached a threshold of some sort. (And we're a
relatively small shop. No hugh projects, less than 200 projects on the
database.)

Mark,

Two items:

1) I just added a task to another
project and saved it (not published) which means it should be visible going
through the project center in PWA.

Not true. Publishing a task moves it to the views tables in Project Server.
The Project Center in PWA uses the views tables to read in the information.
Try the "publish the new and updated information" and see if it shows up.

2) When you are creating this task, have you assigned it to different
resources or to the same resource? It may be a resource setting like generic
resource is checked.

Just a "wild guess" but...

Hope that helps.

We noticed on the 'little server' which runs only the views notification
service, that we were getting some errors on the 'Project Server Scheduled
Process Service'
service, sooo, we're thinking there may be a disconnect here.

We're going to re-boot both machines after hours and see if that cures the
problem.

I'll let you know the result.
